Maintenance Technician

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Maintains, monitors, installs and repairs mechanical equipment and performs facilities repairs when required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assign asset numbers to all plant production equipment
• Create and maintain files incorporating asset numbers, general description, serial numbers etc. for each piece of equipment. Categorize by equipment type e.g. tillers, cappers, etc.
• Continually develop a realistic and achievable PM program by equipment type and review frequency of PM with department supervisors and schedule accordingly to accomplish. It is anticipated this program will involve Set Up Mechanics and Maintenance personnel
• As PM program is developed, review with department supervisors in order to implement at floor level this appropriate personnel and required training programs identified
• Utilize appropriate planning tools (i.e. computerized maintenance systems, visual scheduling charts, etc.) for easy scheduling and tracking completion dates
• Maintain effectiveness of program and ensure proper documentation is available for any possible audit purposes
• Maintain repair history for each piece of equipment including work-orders, preventive maintenance work, and outside contractor work
• Source, purchase and receive parts and supplies as required for repairs and shop stock
• Identify and purchase essential spare parts for key pieces of equipment
• IQOQ and machine manual duplication for newly acquired equipment
• Prioritize machines and schedule routine maintenance as necessary with department supervisors
• Improve organization and access to all machine manuals.
• Develop a parts inventory and parts re-order system to include spare parts and change parts
• Do repair work orders as required
• Comply with all GMP, SOP, and Safety Standards for HK Kolmar Canada

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:

• College program or equivalent
• Millwright Designate, Industrial Millwright ticket not required but is an asset.
• Previous experience with a PM program
