Shift Supervisor

Afternoon Shift (4:30pm to 2:30am) – Monday to Thursday
General Description:
Manage, direct work and support all production personnel to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. Directs and co-ordinates daily activities and personnel involved in performing operations on all lines across designated departments; uses judgment in decisions that influence operations. Directs and supports Production Supervisors and Set-up Mechanics
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for quality, safety, security and productivity of employee and facility including emergency response and emergency/security services contact.
- Starts 30 minutes prior to shift start to ensure the line is ready for start-up.
- Actively participate in shift start-up/hand-off meeting; maintain positive and open communication between shifts at all times.
- Manage activities, provide direction, leadership and mentoring to Production Supervisors and Set-up mechanics
- Collaborate with and provide support to Compounding, Quality & Maintenance
- Oversee labour scheduling and job allocation according to policy.
- Manage Temporary Associates; maintain open communication with Labour & Production Scheduler on requirements and performance.
- Communicate job expectations to enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee job rotation every quarter
- Monitor workflow for safety and procedure compliance; responds to safety concerns.
- Communicate job expectations to enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the codes are on the approval paperwork/documentation on the line is accurate
- Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process and identifying bottlenecks
- Assists and ensures a clean and orderly work environment in all areas
- Report and track daily production, recommend process improvements
- Complete and communicate shift summary including efficiency, activity, issues, and successes.
- Resolve employee issues by investigating and determining solutions
- Participate in performance management including progressive discipline when required.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies regarding equipment, and supplies
- Maintain open communication with Director of Operations regarding Safety, Quality, employee performance, scheduling issues, equipment issues.
Qualifications:
Education
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- Completion of leadership courses preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Minimum of 5 years previous Supervisory/Leadership experience in manufacturing preferrable CPG/GMP environment
- Working knowledge and experience with production machinery
- Mechanical aptitude and experience
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Exceptional trouble-shooting/decision-making ability
- Demonstrated Process Improvement
- Excellent Communication Skills – written and oral
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to create maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders
- Good Computer knowledge
- Lifting 50lbs
Pay Range: $60,000-$80,000 per year, +Benefits
